Damien Hardwick, Head Coach, Gold Coast Suns

An uncompromising and hard-nosed defender, Damien Hardwick made a substantial impact on the Australian Football League. He began his playing career with Essendon, amassing 153 games and notably contributing to their 2000 premiership.

Hardwick’s journey into coaching commenced at Hawthorn as an assistant coach under Alistair Clarkson in 2005, playing a significant role in the club’s premiership success.

Following his appointment as Richmond’s Senior Coach in 2009, Hardwick expertly guided the club to three consecutive finals appearances in 2013, 2014, and 2015. Hardwick was the inspiration behind Richmond’s stunning revival in 2017. Under his leadership, Richmond secured their first premiership in 37 years. Building on this success, he led Richmond to their second premiership in 2019. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Hardwick coached Richmond to their third premiership win within 4 years.

After coaching Richmond for a record breaking 307 games, Hardwick announced his resignation from Richmond in 2023. This year, Hardwick is taking on a new challenge as Senior Coach of the Gold Coast Suns, embarking on an exciting new chapter in his illustrious career.

This session is proudly sponsored by Carlton & United Breweries.

Lorin Nicholson

Many have an incredible story to tell, however Lorin possesses that rare story telling ability that truly motivates, captivates, entertains and empowers others with the skills, knowledge and determination to create their own success. Unlike the usual, naturally gifted celebrity athlete, businessperson and motivational speakers who choose to become successful, Lorin was forced to dig deep, fight hard and muster every ounce of his willpower just to be normal.

At age four, Lorin was declared legally blind, however despite the enormous challenges of blindness growing up and the pessimistic views and low expectations of so many, it soon became obvious that Lorin possessed an incredible inner strength, resilience and determination that would see him destined for great things. Whether focussed on becoming an academic achiever, a record-breaking athlete, an award-winning music producer and virtuoso guitarist, or building a strong and successful business, amazingly, Lorin continues to surge on to achieve far above and beyond most abled people.

Lorin’s powerful messages, captivating delivery style and incredible guitar playing, coupled with his unrelenting determination through adversity and his infectious enthusiasm for life always leaves an indelible imprint on the lives of everyone he meets. Whether it’s giving your team a motivational pep-up, or developing greater initiative, vision and leadership among your staff members, or refocusing your company’s direction, prime purpose and business positioning strategy, Lorin is renowned for his profound ability to communicate, innovate and accelerate individuals and organisations towards higher achievement.
