The countdown to this year's Keno Right Direction Conference is on!

This year, we are heading to sunny Cairns, with the Pullman Cairns International providing us our home base for the event from Tuesday, 22 June to Thursday, 24 June.

The conference is designed specifically for Club managers, senior staff and Board/committee members and offers attendees the opportunity to network with colleagues and engage with highly experienced advisors, consultants and mentors over three great days.

We have shortlisted important and relevant topics and curated a program which is designed to ensure each and every attendee will take away learnings applicable to their business and themselves, both personally and professionally.

Session 3: DARWINIAN GAMING: AND SO, WE ADAPT... AGAIN
Justine Channing

Gaming Specialist, Cream Synergy

“It’s not the strongest of the species that survives, or the most intelligent, but those most responsive to change” – Charles Darwin (attributed).

The club industry is adept at change, but the last 12 months have offered some unique challenges in gaming. Changing trends in gaming player demographics are driving new preferences for game types, floor space, floor position and gaming promotions and creating a more competitive environment between clubs, and on the gaming floor. Identifying these trends is important but dealing with them is vital.

Session 4: THE WELLBEING CODE
David Shillington

Chief Executive Officer, Wellbeing Code

The better we are mentally, the better we’ll perform. David will take the lessons learnt at the highest levels of sport and offer guidance on how to bring that discipline to your own environment to better manage your own mental health and the health of your teams.

6:30pm – 10:30pm: HOSTPLUS RIGHT DIRECTION DINNER
Poolside, Pullman Cairns International

Finish off a great day and join us poolside at the Hostplus Right Direction Dinner. Delight in canapes and a two-course meal, with the beverages courtesy of Carlton & United Breweries and Treasury Wines; you’ll be sure enjoy a night of fun and entertainment.

THURSDAY, 24 JUNE

7:30am: RIGHT DIRECTION BREAKFAST
Julia Banks

Business Leader, Lawyer, Author and Former Federal Member of Parliament

Good governance, ethics and trust have to be lived and breathed by every individual in the organisation. Good governance is imperative in the context of crisis, risk and issues management. A company’s brand and reputation for employees, consumers, and all stakeholders are contingent upon good governance. Join us for a breakfast keynote delivered by Julia Banks, who will draw on her unique dual leadership experience in the corporate business world and as a high-profile Member of Parliament, as she discusses the importance of good governance and what this means for the Club industry.

Session 5: IN CONVERSATION WITH SCOTT OLIVE
CEO, HRG Studios
Brought to you by Aristocrat Gaming

Scott Olive is the creator of Aristocrat’s Lightning Link and Dragon Link, which are among the top performing poker machine games in Australia and North America.  Lightning Link – billed as a “10-year game” – first took off in Australia and is now played in casinos in six continents. We’re honoured to have Scott join us at this year’s Right Direction Conference, where he’ll be talking about his insights into the gaming world.
