Dealing with employee misconduct issues can be stressful, unpleasant and disruptive to your club. It is important to deal with such issues properly to minimise the risk of costly legal proceedings and look after the rights and well-being of all involved.

Speakers

Deputy President Lake, Fair Work Commission – We’re honoured to be joined by DP Lake who will be discussing the criteria that is used to assess an unfair dismissal claim as well as how the remedy is calculated.
 
Sam McIvor, Partner, Mullins – This can be a complex area of the law, but Sam will be on hand to provide you with some basic principles that have been established which can minimise your legal risk in dealing with matters.
 
Derek Tuffield OAM, CEO, Lifeline – Navigating those difficult conversations and employee reactions to misconduct and disciplinary action can be challenging. Derek will provide you with some tools and strategies on how best to approach such situations.
 
Sergeant Nigel Johns, Carina Police Station, Queensland Police Service – A representative from the QPS will advise when and how an employer should notify the police when dealing with common misconduct matters including physical assaults, theft of money, fraud and possession of drugs at the workplace and the process of investigations.

Georgia has more than 15 years’ experience in senior leadership and executive HR positions for local and multinational organisations. She joins us to discuss the development of culture in your club, and effective policies and procedures you should have in place in relation to employee discipline

    You must inform the Clubs Queensland in writing if you wish to cancel part or full registration at least seven (7) full working days prior to the Event/Training Course date to receive a full refund.  Refunds will not be given if you cancel your registration within seven (7) full working days of the commencement of the Event/Training Course.
