The Food Act 2006 replacing The Food Act 1981 and Regulations of 1989 and 1994, introduced training requirements to ensure that food for sale is safe and suitable for human consumption.
This one- day course is directed towards kitchen managers, chefs, senior management and catering staff that may be affected by these changes to legislation.
The main change to Queensland’s food laws means that
- club's with food/catering operations must have a Food Safety Supervisor on staff who is responsible for day to day food safety in the business. This Food Safety Supervisor then must be nominated with the Council who issued the venue's Food Licence.
- the majority of food service/catering operations will be required to implement a Mandatory Food Safety Program.
Clubs Queensland sought advice from Queensland Health and provides information in this article Food For Thought.
Further information can be found in Queensland Health Fact Sheets #18 and #19 on Food Safety Supervisors, and #20 on Food Safety Programs.
