Responsible Gambling (RG) Audits
Regional Services Branch (Gaming) is responsible for the gaming inspections and audit function of the Compliance Division of the Office Of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR). They have offices and staff located throughout Queensland, see Contacts.
The Compliance Division is responsible for maintaining the integrity and probity of the gambling industry in Queensland and ensuring that, on balance, the state and the community benefit from gambling.
There are a number of different inspection activities undertaken by Compliance Officers from the Regional Services Branch. These include:
• formal pre-arranged audits,
• unannounced critical breaches inspections,
• selected breaches inspections,
• reinspections, and
• the new responsible gambling specific reinspections.
The Responsible Gambling Code of Practice represents a voluntary, whole-of-industry commitment to best practice in the provision of responsible gambling. The Code of Practice was the first whole-of-industry responsible gambling code of practice in Australia. In recognition of the diversity within the gambling industry, the Code of Practice gives consideration to how the practices apply to each sector of the industry.
The gaming machine inspection procedures and checklists have also been enhanced to more accurately and efficiently assess the commitment of individual gambling provider’s to responsible gambling. Legislative and Code of Practice breaches have been assessed and given a revised responsible gambling rating. New Code of Practice breaches have been created along with a number of new inspection questions.

Gambling Help Services Support
The role of the Gambling Help Service (GHS Contacts) is to support and assist venues in their provision of responsible gambling practices (Community Educators Role).
In doing so, the aim of the checklist (RG venue Checklist) is not to police venues but rather to support and work together with gaming venues in developing partnerships to provide responsible gambling environments to the community.
This checklist provides the set standards that are recognised as part of the Harm minimisation approach to gambling. To get a better understanding of how the GHS and venues can better work together in this area see the DVD.
